Player Development Opportunities

One of the key aims for the Rugby Football League in London and the South East is to provide a high quality player development pathway which supplies players for the professional and semi-professional clubs in the region.

Player development opportunities start for players at 13 and 14, when those identified from the WCAM London Junior League and the Hard Rock Cafe London Origin programme can be selected to join Player Development Centres. Player Development Centres aim to provide high quality coaching and athletic development to assist the development of young players with potential talent, alongside their club rugby league.

London Broncos run a Super League scholarship programme at U15 and U16, which feeds their U18 Academy and in turn the U20s and 1st team squad at the club.

The system is ultimately intended to produce future London Broncos and England players, however it is also anticipated that players will flow in both directions to and from London Skolars in Championship 1, and Hemel Stags who have been confirmed as a Championship 1 club in 2013.
