Coaching Opportunities At West London Sharks
West London Sharks, one of the most successful amateur Rugby League clubs in the South East, are a long established, progressive club, with strong community links and a unique culture of inclusiveness. For 2012 season they have a number of open coaching opportunities, including:
- Head Coach
- Assistant Coach
- Under 18’s Coach
As an amateur club these are voluntary positions, however, they may be able to pay a successful candidate travel expenses. The club are keen to help coaches aspiring to further their qualifications and experience and can provide mentoring from their globally experienced Head of Rugby and potentially invest in further qualifications.
Off the field the club fosters a sense of community, attracting players from around the world, across the UK and from the local community. They have a vibrant social scene centered around Chiswick, Twickenham, Hammersmith, Acton, Ealing and Richmond and great relationships on and off the field between Mens and Women’s squads and their sponsors.
The Sharks are based in Dukes Meadow ,Chiswick, which is in West London (W4). Currently they field two open age mens teams and a women’s team. For 2012 they are also looking to set up an under-18s team. The club in next to the Thames and has excellent facilities, including multiple pitches, good quality changing rooms and a popular bar. Travel connections are also excellent.
Head Coach: Ideally level 2 Qualified. Responsible for the first team squad and expected to provide some leadership and work closely with all teams, coaches and the committee.
Assistant Coaches: minimum Level 1 qualified. Responsible for the second team but also expected to support the Head Coach, current Assistant Coaches and U18’s coach.
Training commences February 2012 and is generally held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm to 9pm. Matches are on Saturday afternoons in a season that runs from April through to September.
Sharks on the field achievements include:
- RLC Premier South Champions 2004,2005,2008.2009. Runners Up 2006,2007,2010
- RLC National Champions 2009 – Runners Up 2004, 2008
- LARL Champions 2008
- Women’s National Champions 2008
